CONDOLENCE MESSAGE BY PPCC OFFICIAL SPOKESPERSON SUKHPAL SINGH KHAIRA
Congress party on behalf of the people of Punjab, condoles the untimely and tragic death of one of state’s most daring journalist, Jasdeep Singh Malhotra. The deceased journalist in his short span of life had immensely contributed to the field of journalism. He was a very fine human being and a good friend. The loss of Jasdeep Malhotra is not only the loss of his family and close ones but a major loss to the state of Punjab, as he was known for being forthright, truthful and a fearless crusader of the interest of Punjab. His bold pen would be remembered by one and all for bringing many vital public issues to the fore. He never hesitated from annoying the most powerful people, when it came to the interest of Punjab and the country. He was a champion of people’s rights and never hesitated to call spade a spade. He vehemently raised issues like the scandalous leasing of PIMS at Jalandhar and was recently highlighting the hijack of sand mining and gravel business by the powerful political- mafia nexus. In-fact I spoke to him today morning itself, to congratulate him for daring to write so boldly against the ‘Goonda’ tax being imposed upon the people by the said mafia. I will forever remember my last conversation with the brave son of the soul and miss him dearly.
The loss of Jasdeep Malhotra eminent journalist will once again focus to the unending saga of murderous deaths due to road accidents. Although more than 5,000 innocent  and precious lives like that of our friend Jasdeep Malhotra are lost each year in Punjab, I wonder when the rulers of the state are going to wake up to this menace.
In the same breath, I also pray to god for the safety and wellbeing of Surinder Kumar Kalia SSP Pathankot and those injured in the accident.
May god rest the soul of Malhotra in peace and give his family and friends the strength to bear the irreparable, heartrending and tragic loss.
